Tudor Goes 'Flamingo Blue' For The Latest Spin On The Black Bay Chrono

Beyond the dial coloring – which I have confirmed is not in any way aligned with Inter Miami (despite Tudor being the team's official timekeeper) – we're looking at an otherwise stock Black Bay Chronograph. That means the Flamingo Blue Tudor measures 41mm wide, 14.4mm thick, and includes a 5-link bracelet with T-Fit.

This model, reference M79360n-0024, uses Tudor's MT5813 automatic chronograph movement. Ticking at 4 Hz and offering a 70-hour power reserve, the 5813 is COSC-certified and is further adjusted by Tudor to run at -2/+4 seconds a day.

Available starting today, the Tudor Black Bay Chrono "Flamingo Blue" is not a numbered limited edition and has a retail price of $5,875.

What We Think...While I don't totally understand the name of the color (I feel as though flamingos are known for a specific color), as far as new dial colors go, this feels like a fun way to follow up the rather extreme hype of the pink option from March of 2024. I also think that offering models with these more daring and colorful dials established a stark contrast against the more stoic and conventional iterations of the same model (be they black, blue, or white dialed).

The success here, and I think we can call it a success after the rabid response experienced for the pink iteration, is in offering something unexpected that doesn't fall out of alignment with the wider Tudor perspective. It's a surprise, and for parties that don't find themselves all that excited by the standard fare, suddenly, there's an alternative, and the effect is delightful because the foundation (a Tudor watch) is unchanged.

While I think the "Flamingo Blue" version will be popular, I have my doubts that it will garner the same attention as the Chrono Pink did last year. The first always has some sort of advantage, the effect of a more complete surprise. That said, I would expect this new color to be very much in demand, and Tudor has even separately delineated these two colorful chronos alongside the Black Bay Ceramic "Blue" into a collection on their website called "Daring Watches."
